Avian Polyomavirus Vaccine, Killed Virus
Description
Psittimune APV contains inactivated avian polyomavirus.
Indications
Psittimune APV is recommended for the vaccination of selected psittacine
birds as an aid in the prevention of avian polyomavirus infection or budgerigar
fledgling disease.
Psittimune APV is administered by the subcutaneous method to healthy,
susceptible psittacine birds prior to the laying season, during quarantine,
and prior to exposure to other psittacine stock or equipment. Young birds
are vaccinated at 5 weeks of age. Larger psittacine birds weighing 200
grams or greater should receive a 0.5 ml dose. Birds weighing less that
200 grams should receive a 0.25 ml dose.
