MYCOMUNE® To Be Offered
By AgriLabs
Lenexa, KS – Biomune Company of Lenexa, KS and Agri Laboratories of
St. Joseph, MO have announced a distribution agreement that will allow
AgriLabs the exclusive selling and marketing rights for Mycomune ® .
Mycomune ® is the first and only USDA approved bacterin which aids
in the prevention of mastitis caused by Mycoplasma bovis . Biomune
Company developed the killed vaccine and received a USDA license in 2004.
Mycomune ® aids
in the prevention of mastitis caused by Mycoplasma
bovis and reduces duration and severity of Mycoplasma bovis infection.
Mycoplasma mastitis has experienced a dramatic rise in incidence and
the potential economic loss to the producer can be extensive due to
the lack of effective treatment for the disease, reduced milk production
and the practice of culling infected cows. Because Mycoplasma mastitis
is virtually untreatable, Mycomune ® is recommended as a preventative
strategy in a herd health vaccination program .
Mycomune® is administered
subcutaneously in the neck in a convenient 2 ml dose and does not require
milk withholding after vaccination. A three-injection vaccination regimen
administered at two to four week intervals prior to calving is recommended.
Semi-annual revaccination is also recommended for a high level of protection.
The withholding period prior to slaughter is 21 days. Mycomune is available
now from AgriLabs in 10 and 50 dose bottles. For more information call
800-542-8916.
